Russian state TV keeps referring to Ukraine as “the hydra” that needs to be crushed. This term is straight from the Soviet period of the Red Terror, when Felix Dzerzhinsky proclaimed: “Let the working class crush the counterrevolutionary hydra with mass terror!”
