Kiev has declared a state of emergency on the electricity market after months of fighting between pro-Russian rebels and Ukrainian forces disrupted supplies to thermal power plants (TPP), which provide around 40 percent of Ukraine’s electricity.
The power crisis together with an expected shortfall in gas supplies from Russia mean Ukraine faces a winter that Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk said would be “extremely difficult”.
The southern peninsula of Crimea, which depends on Ukraine for around 80 percent of its power, was seized by Russia in March – an annexation Ukraine has refused to recognise.

He tweeted a website which presumed to show that only MH 17 flew over the combat zone, suggesting it was deliberately diverted. Except the website actually showed dozens of other airliners flying over the combat zone.
When I pointed this out, he moved on to another Kremlin talking point.
@JF991 @Roman_Skaskiw Who diverted the plane? I know Australians that want that answered. ha ha its not like the "US" done that before !
— Kolin Evans (@Kolin_Quark) July 20, 2014
But, @Kolin_Quark @JF991 If you click around, you'll see other aircraft flying over #E Ukraine. example: http://t.co/F4XskljG93 #MH17.

And @Kolin_Quark @JF991 – this one also flew of E. Ukraine: http://t.co/bTTec5Xe5f

@Roman_Skaskiw @JF991 http://flightaware.com/live/flight/MAS17/history/20140717/1000Z/EHAM/WMKK … easy for people to check – except how many flew directly over the battle zone, IMF buddies.

Russian soldiers upload photos of themselves dressed in Ukrainian riot police uniform (yes, the very same riot police shooting unarmed protesters to defend the regime of a pro-Russian president).

His head was bandaged which improved his anonymity. The Russians repeatedly asked if the prisoners were shooting or not. Their treatment improved radically when cameras arrived.
Seems some Russian soldiers in Donetsk still believed they were in Rostov, Russia.
They ran out of food and water, but had enough ammo. If they had food and water, he feels they could have held Ilovaisk for months.
The Russians who shot at them after there was an agreement about a safety corridor did not know about such an agreement.
General George S. Patton:
“The difficulty in understanding the Russian is that we do not take cognizance of the fact that he is not a European, but an Asiatic, and therefore thinks deviously. We can no more understand a Russian than a Chinaman or a Japanese, and from what I have seen of them, I have no particular desire to understand them, except to ascertain how much lead or iron it takes to kill them. In addition to his other Asiatic characteristics, the Russian has no regard for human life and is an all out son of bitch, barbarian, and chronic drunk.”
Statement by Patton on 8 August 1945, as quoted in “General Patton : A Soldier’s Life” (2002) by Stanley P. Hirshson, p. 650
Also, as I posted earlier, he wanted to take Moscow in 1945 and free the rest of Europe. That’s why they assassinated him.
“I understand the situation. Their (the Soviet) supply system is inadequate to maintain them in a serious action such as I could put to them. They have chickens in the coop and cattle on the hoof — that’s their supply system. They could probably maintain themselves in the type of fighting I could give them for five days. After that it would make no difference how many million men they have, and if you wanted Moscow I could give it to you. They lived on the land coming down. There is insufficient left for them to maintain themselves going back. Let’s not give them time to build up their supplies. If we do, then . . . we have had a victory over the Germans and disarmed them, but we have failed in the liberation of Europe; we have lost the war!” — Patton. Prior to his assassination by the Soviets.
(Just to be clear, I condemn Patton’s racism against Asians. Those were different times. His general impression is relevant.)
This is really strange b/c the Russian Federation is extremely anti-nationalist. Their whole shtick is that of the Borg from Star Trek. They invade surrounding cultures and murder people until the survivors start calling themselves “Russian.” This has been happening since Mogolian/Finno Ugric kingdom of Muscovy subjugated the Slavic kingdom of Novgorod.
Imagine what the political rhetoric could b if #Ukraine’s Poroshenko announced his own plan 4 a Donbass referendum in April, as I suggested.
We don’t have to fight. We just have to rapidly sell nukes to eastern Europe.
The fools in the west spent decades on disarmament only to have Obama demonstrate to the world, that the only defense of one’s borders and people is nuclear weapons.
Obama is the greatest advocate for the proliferation of nuclear weapons in history.
Russia could not touch Ukraine if it was nuclear armed. Moscow is an easy target.
