Mind you, this was before the full blown invasion of Donbas. I think sentiment since then has soured considerably.

I actually couldn’t find the survey I was looking for. I remember one from somewhere in Donbas that shows more people wanted to join Ukraine than Russia, but, shockingly — the plurality of people had “no opinion”.

I wanted to make the point that these are the descendants of the people described in the book “the Whisperers”, and a larger point about political indifference.
