Russia Celebrates Election of Pro-Kremlin Party Leader in Britain, ‘Admirer of Karl Marx’

Who supports Putin? Communists, Libertarians, Nationalists, Nazis.

Why? Because Russia is incredibly good at infiltrating dissenting political organizations in the west. They’ve been doing it for centuries.

Russian insider says Putin openly planned invasion of Ukraine since 2003

A former Russian insider says he was there when Putin began openly planning the present invasion of Ukraine back in 2003.

At a conference in Brussels this week, Andrey Illarionov, a Russian economist and former economic advisor to Vladimir Putin informed that the invasion of Ukraine has been in official planning since at least 2003.

Russian military & mercenaries directly implicated in torture of Ukrainian prisoners

What is more, in over 40% of the so-called ‘interrogations’ and control over them, key roles were played by mercenaries from the Russian Federation or people who identified themselves as Russian military personnel.

The Coalition ‘Justice for Peace in Donbas’ has released a report entitled “Those who survived Hell”. The study is based mainly on a survey of 165 people held prisoner by the militants. In many cases even those who were not themselves tortured report witnessing or hearing the torture of others. 33% of the soldiers, and 16% of civilians had personally witnessed a death as the result of torture.

The results of the Coalition’s study indicate a large number of war crimes which cannot fall under any ‘amnesty’ currently promoted by western leaders as part of a peace deal for the region. There are separate accounts given by soldiers taken prisoner, and images which the militants themselves posted on the Internet in a video here.

According to groups trying to organize prisoner exchanges, by July 1, 2015, around 2, 500 prisoners had been freed, another 500 remained in captivity. Ukraine’s Interior Ministry says that over six thousand people have been taken prisoner or disappeared without trace, with the fact of 1500 still unknown.

Prosecutors ban Soros Foundation as ‘threat to Russian national security’

Strange for me when the Russians do something I agree with.

The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has recognized George Soros’s Open Society Institute and another affiliated organization as undesirable groups, banning Russian citizens and organizations from participation in any of their projects.

In a statement released on Monday, prosecutors said the activities of the Open Society Institute and the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation were a threat to the foundations of Russia’s Constitutional order and national security. They added that the Justice Ministry would be duly informed about these conclusions and would add the two groups to Russia’s list of undesirable foreign organizations.

Gatestone Institute analyzes Russian difficulties and lies in Syria

The first sign that Russia’s military intervention was not going according to plan came in October, when a Russian-backed plan to recapture the strategically important northern Syrian city of Hama was halted by stiff rebel resistance. Western intelligence sources say one decisive factor was the delivery to the rebels of 500 U.S.-made TOW anti-tank missiles, believed to have been provided by the Saudis.

In what has since become known locally as the “massacre of the tanks”, nearly 20 tanks and armoured personnel carriers fielded by the Assad regime were knocked out of action by the highly accurate TOW missiles.

The fierce resistance put up by anti-government forces, which also claimed the lives of several senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard officers, dealt a serious blow to the morale of regime loyalists. It also resulted in a significant change of tactics on the part of the Russians who, aware of the limitations of the regime’s ground forces, have increased their reliance on air power to achieve their objective of defeating the rebels.

But while the Russians insist that their main attacks in Syria are being directed against fighters associated with the so-called Islamic State (ISIS), the reality is that they are bombing a large variety of anti-Assad forces – including those backed by the U.S.-led military coalition. One of the explanations given for the Turks shooting down a Russian SU-24 jet was that it had been bombing rebel groups backed by Turkey rather than ISIS, as the Russians later claimed.

The lack of progress made in Syria since Mr Putin first authorized Russian military involvement could soon have serious repercussions for the Kremlin.

Has Putin Met His Match In Russia’s Truck Drivers?

They don’t mind lying:

Putin’s propaganda machine cannot brand three million ordinary citizens as traitors and CIA agents. . . . Talks failed when Russia’s transport minister staged a show meeting with counterfeit truckers before government media. Despite massive security efforts, 200 trucks have arrived in Moscow. Ominously for the Kremlin, private car drivers are joining the protest.

Georgia War Propaganda

I hate to say it, but at the time of Russia’s invasion of Georgia (which annexed 20% of their territory), I had the story completely wrong. I had been reading to much Lew Rockwell who tends to shill for the Kremlin.

The typical narrative in the alternative Libertarian press was complete Kremlin propaganda.

The reality is that Russia, alarmed by Georgia’s anti-corruption reforms and strengthening ties with the west, sparked an ethnic cleansing of Georgians at the hands of the Ossetians, and had all their “Genocie of Ossetians” propaganda ready for when the Georgian government responded.

Wikipedia:

—“South Ossetian separatists began attacking the Georgian villages in early August 2008, in order to force Georgia to respond militarily, thus giving a pretext for pre-planned Russian invasion. Russia was preparing to go to war with Georgia for years before 2008 and intended to achieve geopolitical goals. Some researchers paid attention to the military exercise “Kavkaz 2008”, which concluded in early August. During this exercise a written notice entitled “Soldier, know your probable enemy” (the enemy was clarified as Georgia) was circulated among the Russian participants. Russian journalists began arriving in Tskhinvali on 2 August to cover a war that had not yet begun. Some Russian regular troops entered South Ossetia before the Georgian military operation against Tskhinvali began on 7 August.”—

Evidence of ethnic cleansing of Georgians:

Top 10 Russian lies about Georgia war (http://euromaidanpress.com/2015/08/16/top-10-russian-lies-about-the-georgia-war/):

1. Inflated numbers of the death toll in South Ossetia during the Georgian operation, while in fact more Georgians were killed by the Russian invasion. 2000 instead of 162.

2. Russian media claimed that Tskhinvali was leveled by Georgian artillery. Actually, only 5% of building were affected.

3. Georgian operation was provoked by a long period of escalation and week of open hostilities.

4. Russian troops were in South Ossetia long before Russia was asked for help.

5. Russian peacekeepers weren’t attacked by Georgian forces.

6. Russia’s claims of a US citizen fighting for Georgia based on passport lost in airport in 2005.

7. Russia built a military base in the breakaway region before the war in 2008.

8. Investigation shows Russia’s claims of Ukrainian far-right fighters aiding Georgia are unfounded.

9. Russian media released a fake interview attempting to give away award-winning photos of victims of Russian bombing at Gori as staged, probe finds they are real.

10. Russian news edits real Fox News interview to produce example of “censorship by Western media” for domestic audiences.

When Russians welcomed Nazis as “Christian Crusaders”

Third Reich opened up 470 churches in north-western Russia alone and reinstated priests driven from their pulpits by Stalin. . . .

Perhaps most astonishingly, the Germans even shipped numerous mayors, journalists, policeman and teachers back to the Reich to show them the ‘German way of life.’

Russia has always portrayed the war against the Germans as a historic struggle which cost 27million lives but ultimately defeated the Nazis forever.

Until now, there has been little examination of the extent of collaboration by Soviet citizens with the invaders.

Russian journalists getting blacklisted (from June)

“Hey, have you seen this?” said the cellist, flicking through his smartphone. “You’re an enemy of Russia now.”

We pored over the little screen and there, sure enough, was my face, plastered with the label “Pathological Russophobe”. I’d been added to a list of “undesirables” on a website whose extreme nationalist authors recommended my expulsion from Russia.

Good History of Ukraine’s 20th Century

by Olga Kaczmar

In this thesis, I will explore the United States’ role in the downfall of life and liberty of the Ukrainian peoples, the division of Ukrainian lands, and the economic support to Ukraine’s three major enemies of modern time: Poland, Russia and Germany. The US puts out a lot of propaganda about how it wants democracy in Europe. Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, and even, William Clinton policies shaped Ukraine’s subservience. I will also touch on the mass evacuations and devastation to lives after all the treaties were signed (Operation Vistula in 1947). But first . . . a little history to bring you up to speed and help you understand.
